I am a life-long learner!
I am an owner, director, former teacher, student, wife and mother; but above all I am blessed.  As the owner and director of My Little School Academy, I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to help teachers grow professionally and children develop their strengths and overcome their challenges.

Having previously taught language arts at South Miami Senior High for ten years, I am not just a director or owner of a preschool; I am a teacher. My experience in the public school system not only prepared me to work with teachers and parents but to manage and execute everything from architectural designs to county inspections and contractors.

As a life-long learner, I am always looking to learn something new that will benefit our parents, teachers, and children alike. I achieved my associate’s degree at Miami Dade College, followed by my bachelor’s and master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University. During my master’s program I also earned my National Board Teaching Certification. I later acquired my Director’s Credential at Nova Southeastern University. And now as director of My Little School Academy since 2009, I look forward to expanding our business in Miami Dade County in an effort to help more children reach their full potential.

Although I was born in New York during a planned vacation, my parents lived in Medellin, Colombia until I was three years old when my father unexpectedly passed away. As a widow my mother came to the United States with three young girls to give us an education and a brighter future. Immersed in the public school system, my sisters and I quickly learned English. My mother’s dream of giving us “the world” is my reality; I am blessed to be married to a loving and generous man for the past thirty-two years and with whom I have a 21-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son. Both of our children love to learn—from math to baseball, it is all fun to them. My daughter recently graduated from Miami Dade College with her bachelor’s in early childhood education and will be working on her master’s degree in educational leadership. My son is attending the University of Central Florida to study aerospace engineering.

As the owner, director, teacher, student, wife and mother, I look forward to guiding and sharing my experiences and knowledge with other professionals in the childcare industry; together we can help more children, their families, and educators while growing our business.
